Personal Essay Speech

Uggh.

That is all I can say.

I presented my personal essay today.

I sucked.

I mean, I got a B, but I felt terrible while doing it.

I wanted to be super prepared, so I wrote notecards on what I was going to say.

And then I just stared at them the entire time.

So that was the first and last time I'll ever do that.  I do better when I just wing it anyways.

At the end, everyone writes on a little piece of paper what they think you did well, and what you could improve.

The things that everyone wrote didn't help me at all.

If anything, they just confused me more.

Some people said I had good posture, some said to work on it.

Some said confident and prepared, others said be more prepared.

Half said talking at a good pace, the others either said slow down, or speed up.

I couldn't please anyone.

In the end, the only thing most of them agreed on was to look up from my notecards more.

But I could have told them that myself.

Uggh.

How I felt about this yesterday.

Chillin' With Tiberius

Just trying to get some homework done.

But Tiberius has been hanging out with me.  It's hard to concentrate with him being so adorable.

So we had a mini-photoshoot.

He's just such a cutie! (:

That's all for today! (:

Personal Speech Tomorrow!

I have to give a speech tomorrow.

I'm really nervous.

We had to write an essay about an event that changed us and/or our life.

I wrote about moving.  My family actually just moved to where we live now about a month ago.  It was the first time I've moved in my entire life, so it was a big deal.  Leaving everyone and everything I knew was not easy. So at least my topic should be pretty good.

I'm actually not all that bad at speaking in front of a class.  Usually.  I haven't had to since we moved.  I started thinking that maybe I was just really good at public speaking before because I had literally grown up with the entire school.  I felt like I knew everyone.  Even though there were over 2,000 students.

At my new school, I barely even know the the names of the kids who sit around me.

So I'll be far from comfortable.

I guess I just need to really practice and hope for the best.

Wish me luck!

EDIT:  If you want to know how it went, click this.

Plagiarism

Some kids in my class got busted for plagiarizing last week.

I just thought that it was funny how everyone copied the answers from the same website.

My teacher said that the only reason she looked into the possiblitly of them cheating was that they all wrote the same strange word.

Water ship.

I guess they were trying to be finsihed so fast that they didn't stop and think for a second that it would be better to just say boat.

The words themselves almost made me laugh out loud, but everyone seemed really serious, so I held back

They probably knew they'd been caught.

Luckily, I copied from a different site.

Just kidding! Got you for a second, right?

I actually finished during class when my teacher was giving some "possible answers out".

I heard "perfect answers" and wrote them all down.

No homework for me that weekend!

My teacher in 7th grade actually thought I had cheated on my essay.  Probably because it was so good.

But that's another story.

So the moral of all this is: DON'T PLAGIARIZE.  Or cheat.

Line & Haiku Poems

Today in English we had to write some poems.

I'm actually pretty proud of mine this time (unlike a few days ago), so I thought I'd share them with you.

Line Poems:

You literally just have to ist a bunch of things.

How To Fly
Lead
Brush
Pick
Saddle
Bridle
Mount
And finally, ride
Fly away

If Only I Could
Sleep in on schools days,
Not have to do chores.
Live forever
And have the key to every door.

That one even rhymes!

Haikus:

The form for them is three lines going:
5 syllables
7 syllables
5 syllables

Snow
Snowflakes fall slowly
Silently coating the ground
In a white blanket

Rain
It begins to rain
Drops splashing on to the ground
Puddles to jump in

Hope you liked them as much as I do!

Starting to Draw?

I have decided that I want to start drawing.

I don't know how far I will take it, but in the end, I just want to be better than I am right now.

Because at the moment, even my stick figures suck.

I'll be posting my doodles and drawings on here when I can.

It will be more for me than anything.  I want to be able to look back and see my progress without having to hold on to a bunch of paper.  Plus, it'll give me something quick and easy to post. (:
Maybe someday I'll be able to draw like that. ^

Jilly-Boo & Tiberius

Here's just a quick little story of how my family got our cats Jilly-Boo and Tiberius.

My sisters and I got them as kittens from Santa.

I remember how crazy I thought my sisters were when they woke me up saying that the big present from Santa was meowing.

I went downstairs and saw the box.  I immediately assumed that it was just one of those Fureal Friends toys that was meowing, but I couldn't help but notice how real it sounded.  There was a note on the box that said:

"This is Jilly-Boo and Tiberius.  Take good care of them.        -Santa"

We woke our parents up really fast, then our dad told us to turn the box around.  The side that had been facing the tree was the front of the cage.  I looked in and saw Tiberius looking at me.

"Kitty!" I reached in and grabbed him not noticing until a few moments later that Jilly-Boo was there too.

It has been 4 to 5 years since then, and it still ranks at the top of my Best Christmases Ever list.

Hope you enjoyed. (:

Calm Down For Cats Review

I have 3 cats.  They all have really different personalities.  We got Calm Down to try on 2 of them.

This is Jilly-Boo.

We got her and Tiberius (story of how we got them here) for Christmas.  She is very calm and good with people.  When we have guests over, she stays around to check them out.  So we didn't need Calm Down for her at all.

And here's Tiberius.

He is scared of any loud noises.  He is really sweet one on one with our family, but even moving your hand too fast will spook him. When we try to bring him around other people, he starts shaking, so we don't do that anymore.  We thought Calm Down would benefit him the most.

And last, but not least, Charlie

My dad actually found him stuck in a tree as a kitten.  He shook the tree, and then caught him when he fell out.  Even though my parents didn't want to have another cat, my sisters and I convinced them to let him stay. He is also really scared of loud noises and people.  He is not as much terrified, like Tiberius is, but he just doesn't enjoy being around people much.  But he is also really sweet once you get him alone.  He ended up being the only one to benefit from the Calm Down.

We didn't notice any change with Jilly-Boo, since she's already a really chill cat.  The only difference was that it seemed she was sleeping more.

Tiberius got more bold.  He would come out to see us more often, but then he would get rough and start biting our hands playfully.

Charlie did really well after having the Calm Down.  He became much more loving and would sit with us in bed.  He reacted the way we hoped all of our cats would after having it.

Even though Charlie really did calm down, we hated how Tiberius was acting, so we stopped giving it to them.

We did use it again when we moved, so that the car ride would be less stressful for them.  It seemed like they didn't meow as much, but who knows how they actually felt.

In the end, I would recommend that you at least try it on your cat to see what happens. The only reason we don't use it any more is because the Calm Downed Tiberius was a bit mean.  But it did well on the other 2, so I would say those chances are pretty good.

Grumpy Cat

I think that this little guy is the cutest thing ever!

I could lookup new pictures of him for the rest of my life.  His face makes him look like a human.

If I met him in real life, I'd probably cry.  I'm super jealous of his owners.

Apparently, his real name is Tard.  How sweet..

These are my favorite pictures of him. (:

Isn't he just precious?

Texting in Class

I got in trouble for texting in class today. But I'm innocent, I swear!

So I was halfway through class. I was being a good kid.  Even took a few notes.  Then I hear someone's phone go off.

"Ha! Sucker's gonna get get caught."

Then I thought, "Wait a second, that kind of sounded like my phone..."

That's when I noticed that everyone was staring at me.

My teacher told me to hand it over.

But my phone is like a child to me.

"Oh come on.  If I was really texting someone right now, you wouldn't have caught me."

The words slipped out my mouth smoothly.  I realized how jerky that must have come off as.

"Please?" I added a few seconds later as an after thought.

He ended up letting me keep it.  But I'm sure what I said didn't win me any brownie points with him...

At least I'm good in history.

But I was just being honest.  Any high schooler knows that the golden rule of texting in class is MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR PHONE ON SILENT.

The only people who ever get caught are the ones who aren't slick enough to know how to not be obvious about it, and the innocent kids who forget to put their phone on silent and then get a surprise text from a friend.

I fall into the second category.

I'm going to be mad at the guy who texted me for a few days now.  I know he didn't mean to get me in trouble, or to humiliate me in front of the class.  But I mean, if someone accidentally punched you in the face, it would still hurt, wouldn't it?  So I need some time for my bruises to heal.

All this talk about texting reminded me:

I love when teachers announce to the class, "I think it's funny how you guys don't realize that us teachers are pros at spotting students who are on their phones."

And I'm sitting there watching the kid in front of me texting his friend:

My teacher is retarded.

Animals With Heart Shaped Markings

I recently (as in about 10 minutes ago) became addicted to animals with heart shaped markings.  I think that they are so perfect! Enjoy. (:
