How I Named My Blog

I figure that since this is my first post on this blog, (or any blog for that matter,) that I should take the time to explain how it got its name.  I actually got the idea to start a blog two days ago.  I was home sick with some sort of cold, thanks to my sister who doesn't know how to cover her mouth, and was blindly surfing the internet.

...

And that's where my mind goes blank.  All I remember is I saw something that made me want to have a blog of my own.

The first thing I thought about was when I would start.  When I realized December 12, 2012 was just a couple of days away, I new it was meant for me to start blogging then.  I mean, I'm not going to be alive the next time a date like that comes along.

So all I had to worry about was naming it.  I went to create the blog, and typed in my first few choices for domain names.  My first choice was taken.  No surprise, I didn't expect to be the first one to think up Bloggess.  Then every single domain I could think up was taken.    Some of the choices I put in weren't even that good.  I realized that after I got one that wasn't taken yet, and I decided not to use it because of how stupid it was.  I went to sleep after trying for what felt like forever, telling myself that it was okay, because I still had a few days to figure it out.

Another day passed.  I tried putting in a few more names I thought were original, but still no luck.  Then today in first period, the announcements came.  Our principle started talking like usual, and for some reason, today I actually paid attention.  She told us that today was Poinsettia day.  I personally have always pronounced it poin-set-uh, so I found it really funny that she was saying poin-set-ee-uh.  They are actually one of my favorite flowers, especially during the holidays.  My mom has always put two pots of them outside of our front door around Christmas time.
Then I got the idea that Poinsettia might not be taken for a domain name.  I went home and did my homework like a good kid, then got on the computer to give it one last shot.  I tried poinsettia.blogspot.com with hope practically bursting out of me.

This name is already in use.

I could have thrown the computer out the window, if I hadn't thought my parents would have murdered me.  So as a last resort, I added "the" to the beginning.  It wasn't taken! Then I sat back with my mouse hovering over the Create Blog button.  Again, I realized that it wasn't that great of a name.  I thought it through, and decided that this name was calling to me in several ways.
1. They are one of my favorite flowers.
2. THE NAME ISN'T TAKEN.
3. Today is literally poinsettia day.  It is 12.12.12.  How much more perfect could you ask for?
So I quickly clicked on the Create button, and here I am.

So there's the crazy story of how this blog got it's name.

I am really good at starting things, but not so good at following through.  For example, I will go through several sheets of paper, writing a few words, then deciding it didn't look neat enough.  Once I finally get everything to my liking, I continue.  Then halfway through, I stop caring and then for the rest of the page my handwriting looks like a preschoolers.  So of course, I thought that 12.12.12 would be the perfect start for this blog, but who knows how long I will care for. All I can say is, enjoy the good grammar while it lasts.

Oh, and could someone please tell me the correct pronunciation of Poinsettia? Thanks!
